I have not been reporting this month but I think I went over as well due to Easter. I will do better next month.

I cherry picked today at Walgreen, Meijer, CVS, Kroger and spent $41.88, saved $14.88 with coupons and $31.09 on sales.

Spent to date $264.23
Coupons used $64.24
Store savings $118.59
Budget left $35.77

Well so far it added up better than I expected. I've spent $488.37 and have $61.63 left to stay in budget.

I too have gone over budget this month, sounds like I am not alone. We had to go to the city yesterday morning for a couple appts. and I won't be there again for a couple weeks and it's an hour away so I took advantage of the trip and the lower cost grocery store and stocked up on some things. I swear the grocery store is my worst temptation.

Jacki, in the long run you may have saved money. When you think of all the gas money you would of had to use to go back to the city for items later on. I so know what you mean about the grocery store being your biggest temptation its the same for me. I love to look at food, to see and try new products and of course to eat.

Jean, just the other day my older daughter was talking about things she remembered from childhood and one of them was that "mom bought every new food product that came out on the market" LOL. Guess you and I are just alike. The other day I was shoving cereal boxes in odd cupboards just to get them out of view so dh wouldn't say "what you bought more cereal?" He does know that I've been getting them for $1 a box but I gave 9 boxes to dd2 and we must have at least that many here so it's time to stop LOL. When I had all 4 kids at home my friend and I would get multiple Sunday papers for the coupons and the local store doubled. You could use 3 alike so we made multiple trips in and out and I had about 45 boxes of free or almost free cereal at one point. And I remember having tons of teen spirit deodorant stocked up because it was $1.99 and there were $1 coupons, I gave that away to everyone! That was at least 15 years ago, what I wouldn't give for all that free deodorant these days.

Another month starting. I am going to keep track of every penny this month. We shall see how we do. I think that maybe we should have a thread for how much money we spend eating out. I bet it would be an eye opener for all of us.

I have a budget for eating out since we have "Daddy & Daughters" night out in our house but I know DH doesn't stick to it. So I try to lower other bills to cover it so the over all budget is okay and we put money in the savings each money.

I'm going to jump in here.

Family of four and one dog, including paper products, toiletries, cleaning and pet supplies. $650 is my maximum and I'm hoping to take into account the insane increase in cost.

Also I budget from one payday to the next because dh's pay comes in once/month on the 25th. I do one trip once/month on discount day and then pick up dairy/produce when I need it. I plan monthly.

So... after all of that..

Yesterday we spent $48 and barely bought anything.
