Thanks, Barb. It's been a good eye-opener for me to track my grocery spending as I've usually been very casual about what I spend. After the first few months of shock, mostly because I was re-stocking after the move, for the last two months I have come in under budget. And now that I'm not able to go whenever I want, I'm thinking that will help in the savings department, too.

Great job Lizzie, I also have found this an eyeopener on where my money was going. On a lot of junk stuff in my case. I spent $63.14 but bought 2 whole pork loins at $1.67 a lb. It has not been that cheap around here in a long time. I cut them into roasts.

Total-$181.20
Goal--$550.00

Cau, good going on the pork roasts. I buy them too when the price is $1.99/lb or less. I get the biggest one I can find, and cut it down into a couple of roasts, some boneless chops, and some cubes for stir fry or paprikas.

Today I stopped at the produce/deli store for fruit, lunch meat and (I couldn't resist) some fabulous rye bread and kaiser rolls. They had strawberries in qt packages for $2.99 so of course I got that. The kids will be thrilled to have those after school.

Deli: $15.31
Shop Rite last week (yes, I went back!): $42

Remaining: 283.63

Spent $111.76 at the commissary (this includes Thanksgiving day stuff) on Friday - yes, I'm behind on posting. I am covered until next Saturday as far as groceries are concerned. My budget still has $122.20, but as there still is no official job for DH, we will try to spend only half of that for the remainder of the month.

Well, I am certainly waaay behind in posting my grocery expenses -- guess I really didn't want to add it up.

So, with all my receipts added up against my budget of $450 for the month, I am only $5.51 over budget, including all the extras for Thanksgiving. I'm going to tell myself that's not bad at all.

I have not posted lately because I have been staying out of the stores. I finall gave in & went to Aldi's for a stock up an big one as I spent $179.99. That includes almost all my baking supplies for the holidays. That brings my grad total up to $514.05 for the month. I feel pretty good about it. My goal was between $500 -$550. 00
