I'm staying at $300 for the month as I have quite a bit of meat in the freezer that will need to be eaten.

Went to Krogers today and spent $59.79

Coupons Used $00.50
Store Sale Savings $40.75

Total Spent $59.79
Balance $240.21

RobertaD - wow that is so great!

I cut coupons out and then weeded out the old ones and it made me ill to see the ones on items I didn't use because I didn't have the box with me!

Could someone please post again that address for expired coupons to send overseas?

A big shop today, hopefully the main requirements for at least two weeks! Spent $195-00, still have some meat from last month and some fruit and veg from last week. Some of todays costs were for mum's party tomorrow.
I am trying to stay under $500- for the month. We'll see!

Ellen,
I know what you mean about the coupons. I periodically clear out my container and bemoan the items I've purchased but didn't use the coupons I had already clipped only because I didn't take them with me. Sigh!

I have to head to the store in a little bit as we're having company tomorrow and I need a few things. I'll check in later with my total.

Liz

Started with $550; in the past 2 days I have been to:
ShopRite (83.68)
Acme (12.13)
Costco (35.80)
Wegmans (29.80)

which leaves me $388.59 for the rest of the month. And I haven't even gotten the breakfast meat for Sunday's brunch--so I may not make it under budget this time!

Okay, here we go for August:

Goal $550 or under
Walmart: $15.28
Weis: $43.73
Balance remaining: $490.99

They had lots of tempting good deals at Weis this week -- lots of $1.00 items, so I bought a few. My receipt says I saved $14.50 so that's encouraging.

So Barb, what's on the menu for the brunch. You said earlier that your DH is making his specialties. What does he like to make?

OK, here's our brunch deal.
We will probably have at least 20 people here. Of those, most are adults/teens.

I will be making:
Hash Brown Casserole
Blueberry Muffins
Coffee

DH will be making:
Pancakes
Breakfast sausage (he puts these in a grill basket and grills them! Then I keep them warm in a Nesco)
Scrambled eggs
Possibly, eggs to order OR eggs Benedict (if I can get my hands on some Canadian bacon)

We tag-team this breakfast. I make sure the kitchen is clean, table is clear, and DH can find everything. I make the muffins, start the casserole in a Nesco, and get the coffee urn set up. Meanwhile DH will go to church early. When he gets home I will get ready for church and he will start the rest of the cooking.

It actually won't be "breakfast" as most of us attend noon Mass so we won't be starting until about 1 or 1:30! But we can eat breakfast anytime

My goal for August is $550.00. This will feed two adults, two very hungry teenage girls, a pet mouse and a 90 lb. chocolate lab. This will also include all cleaning supplies. I went over my July goal by $70.00 but I still feel like I made some progress. My July goal was $100.00 less than my June goal, and food prices are definitely going up.

I have been working much harder to keep an up-to-date inventory, menu planning and making sure we use up everything that we buy.

Thanks for keeping me motivated!

Kathy
