I haven't been on in a while and I haven't seen this challenge before. Are you setting aside a certain amount of cash to spend each week/month so that you know how much you've spent or are you just keeping track using the receipts? Are you including cleaning supplies? It looks like you are including pet supplies. This looks like a great challenge, I really need to get my grocery spending in check. I spend way too much money at Costco & Walmart. I like it when I can go for a whole week without going to the store...but that doesn't happen often. I'll have to look at my receipts and see how much I've spent this month. Dh went to the store last night for peppers for shishkabobs & milk, he came back w/ three bags of groceries! I guess I'm not the only one in the family who overspends at the store.

Mindy, you can do it any way you like. Some participants are setting a budget to see if they can stay below a certain amount, others are tracking how much they spend.

My household situation has changed drastically in the last several months, so last month, I just tracked what I spent, since I had no idea what my new "usual" might be. This month, I'm just going to try to spend less than last month.

Hope you find this thread helpful.

By the way, I just love your tag -- that's going to be my new mantra as I am sorting through "possessions" and deciding what I really want to carry with me the rest of my life.

Liz

I'm not doing that well so far this month. I've already spent $178.50 and I only wanted to spend $550. for the month. I still have not bought dog food or done my Aldi's run. I have to tighten this belt .
