I keep track of everything I spend to the penny..but..do nothing to change my habits..
last quarter I spent 675.43 on :
groceries..502.9l
eating out..115.44
cleaning supplies(includes dish detergents, laundry and cleaning stuff)..16.84
paper products (includes t.paper, tissues, paper towels, paper plates, napkins, etc.)...40.24
averages to 225.14..per month
my worse culprit is the eating out...need to cut it to less xs a month..
I could cut out the paper plates and I waste f lot of paper towels where I could use the dish cloth..also 168. a month is high for l person on food a month...so those will be my areas to work on in June....
but since May is already gone for this quarter..I may have to do some serious making up in June and July...lol..

Hey everyone, its June 1. Have you spent any money on food today? I haven't so far and I don't think I will be today. I have got two sticky chickens in the oven baking for supper and hopefully leftovers. I told my DS to check with the clerk in the lunchroom at school to see if he would need anymore lunch money for this year and she said he had enough and would have just a little left over so I was glad not to have to send more money there. I plan on grocery shopping tomorrow. Have a great day.

Count me in! I am going to set a goal of $600.00 for the month. That will include food, health & beauty items & dog food. I usually get all of this on one trip to WM. Since they ad match, there isn't much sense in going other places! I would have set a goal of $500.00 a month but DD's are home from school starting on Wednesday. We usually end up with quite a few friends here as well. I'd rather spend the extra money having them spend their time here!

Any money left over at the end of the month, I will put aside for something fun - don't know what yet!

Okay, I'm in! I'm curious to see if I can get my bill lower--I feel I do pretty good so far. I have a family of four, plus I run a dayhome, so I feed 4 other children breakfast, lunch and 2 snacks a day. Plus I have two cats. Generally, I spend ~$550/month, with a large beef purchase every 5-6 months. Let's see if I can do it and make it even less!

I already spent $4.79 on a 4L jug of milk. Aaaah, and it's only day one!

Good luck ladies.

My goal is to keep spending at $300 a month for my family of 4 plus 2 dogs and 2 inlaws that eat with us a couple times a week.

With stocking up on sale and using coupons I generally make it but with prices going so much higher I think I'll stick with the same $$ spent amount.

I spent $5.00 today on sausage at the farmer's market. It's a little pricey, but the gentleman we buy it from makes the most delicious sausage ever. We look forward to grilling it in the summertime!

Well I ended up getting groceries at two different stores today.
WM -109.43
Food City-6.31
Total-115.74
Left if I meet my goal-284.26

I decided to go ahead and also count other things besides food such as Tide, paper towels etc. Its a little too complicated to separate everything for me. This probably means I may not make my goal but I guess for me this month more than anything is trying to figure out a way to do better. I will try to meet it or come as close as I can. I hope all of you can do really good on your food bill this month. I live in a very small place. You have to travel quite a ways just to get to a WM. There are no double coupons or anything like that. Good luck everyone. If you know of anything to share about getting the food budget lower let us know.

I printed out a little card that I can keep in my wallet to record my food spending.

So far this month I have spent $1.47...I just HAD to have a tomato to make grilled cheese and tomato sandwiches on Friday.

I start with a $500 budget for the month. (Again, 5 people). I had $10.47 in "scrip" left over from last month so that makes it $510.47 to spend this month.

Now I have $509 left.

It isn't too bad when I look at it this way--when I was in college and living on my own, I fed myself on $25 a week. Now I am feeding 5 people on $125 a week, or $25 per person--20 years (and higher prices) later!

Great idea barbszy. I am going to try that! I'm not good with remembering to fill in things, or finding them after a day or two, but I will try!

this sounds like a good idea but for me my food bill is probably the least amount that I spend on bills. My husband is a bargin hunter and he does really well. Milk is where it gets us everytime...and my diet pepsi. If I could give that up I'd be rich LOL.
I think my computer might be working right now I haven't been able to post for a long time and I missed all you guys. I think I'm gonna check out some of the other threads too and see if I can post there. You all have a great day.
love,
Rosey
