My sister and I are planning a luau for her daughter's graduation
party. The party will be held outdoors unless it rains. We have
the food planned but need ideas for decorations, centerpieces,
etc. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Scroll down to about the 1/2 way point on their home page and you'll see the link to their luau page.
They have some really great luau themed stuff. We ordered 200+ leis. When guests arrived, the graduates greeted them and placed leis around their necks.
This will be a night time party. We thought about roasting a pig
but then found somone to do it for us. I like the fish net idea
and will try to use it.
We are working on making palm trees but haven't quite worked
out the details yet.
I appreciate your response. Please, if you think of anything else, post a reply.
on the palm trees go to a carpet place and ask them for the big carpet rolls, and this can be your truck for the tree, then get either fun form and make the leaves, or we used construction paper, making a front and a back... stuff it with newspaper and hang it on the bark (carpet roll) for your leaves.
get you some of those bamboo lanterns, the ones on the stick.. and put in the ground
you can also make lays by getting flowers and straws, cut straws and thread the flowers and straws together to make bracelets, and necklaces and you could use the color of the high schools that way.
Dont forget the tiki torches. You can also use the grass skirts to decorate the tables. Have you checked out the beach dish supply at WalMart or a dollar store? You can find plastic shell or starfish dishes for about a $1.00 for food or decorations. Ude floating candles on the tables or in a kiddie pool for ambience(sp?). You could also add flowers to the water with the candles.
Ask everyone to wear Hawaiin clothes. Have leis for everyone or the girls could wear flowers in their hair and the guys could wear leis.
If you really want to go all out, even add some sand on the ground. Play Hawaiin music. How about hula lessons? A karaoke machine would be fun. A challenge of limbo---is that the game where you see who can go the lowest under the pole?
you could even give out prizes for the best dress or the most creative dress
oh my the way Tami you may me think of a story I was listening to my radio station and they were talking about putting romance back into your life... and this woman wanted to give her husband a romance evening and she knew he loves the beach for that was where they met one another I think. anyways she got sand brought into thier bedroom to fix up their bedroom with the beach scene when he got home from a trip... you got it she got that sand brought in and dump into thier bedroom... it ruin thier carpet... but it was a experience she said....
What wonderful ideas. I especially love
the karoke machine. Also, thank you
for the palm tree idea.
I haven't checked out Wal-Mart or the
dollar stores yet, but do plan too.
I thought I might some things to use
at Hobby Lobby or other craft store.
I especially like making the lei's using
the school colors.
