Graduation money holders--any nifty ideas ?

We are going to the graduation of the daughter to a friend of my Dh--did ya follow that ?

Anyway, we have been instructed not to bring a gift for her but I would never show up empty handed. I feel that her father feels that we would feel like we were invited just so that she can get a gift out of it. Anyway......Im planning on giving her a gift of money but I would like a "unique" way to wrap it....still staying along the lines of being frugal. Do you think that is possible ?
I dont want to show up with just another card in a regular envelope.

Any ideas ?

These are great ideas !!!!

How about making leaves from the money and placing them on a rose?

I love to make Money Trees. They always turn out so nice and people seem to really like them.

For the Money Tree:

I either get some nice branches from outside or buy some at the store. I then spray paint them white. I Plaster Paris them in a coffee can (I also use faster plaster). You can decorate the can at the end.

I usually use no less then 25- $1 bills. You fan fold them and tie them to the branches with pastel or primary colored curling ribbon. The money becomes the leaves and/or flowers. I have made money trees using up to 100 $1.00 bills.

These look SO nice. I have made them as an end of the year teachers gift, baby showers, birthdays, anniversaires, etc... the list can go on... even as a Wedding present or House Warming gift. You can use any colored ribbons if there is a theme.

I have also made a Butterfly out of money and placed it on the "trunk" of the tree.

As for the rose, you can fold it into a leave like shape and tie it to a rose stem with curling ribbon. Of better yet, Make a butterfly and attach it to flowers.

I hope this helped.

Pinkie Winky

Hi All:
I'm glad I could help out with the grad gifts, I made these myself and they were really fun, and came out so nice, the recipients really liked them too!

Shawn, that is so funny, that you mentioned the money tree. I made one about two weeks ago for a Grandma Baby Shower. The Grandma to be is the lady who usually makes them, so my friends, (gotta love em) call me at the last minute to whip one up. Unfortunately my "Craft Wand" was being serviced!!!!
But I gave it a try, luckily I had just finished a Baby Shower Center Piece, and had stuff left over. I took an empty soda bottle, filled it with rock salt(its all I had!), put branches that I found in my yard, and spray painted at 6:00 in the morning
I filled small baby bottles with shred, and rolled the $ up and stuck it in the bottles, and hung baby stuff, the bottles, and rolled up $ all over the tree. Wrapped the bottle in a receiving blanket, and tied a big bow on it. I was hoping it would pass the Tree Ladies inspection . It passed with flying colors, and I am now the assistant $ tree maker for our group of friends.;-)

I have made the butterflies too, and hearts, I got the directions from the following web site for the Carol Duval Show on HGTV

TTFN I love this forum
Thanks ~~Babs~~
