A rolling store is just what it's name implies. It's a store on wheels. Back in the day, in rural farm areas, there was a basically stripped out bus. It had shelves built from floor to ceiling on either side, except for the door. There was a frig/freezer at the center back. They carried all essentials, feeds, canned goods, and candy, gum and Popsicles for the kids. You couldn't have that store today due to government red tape and thugs.

Totally cool! I'll bet the rolling store was a warm welcome! Such an exciting time for kids, too!

It was! The rolling store came on Saturday afternoon, back then we didn't get to town but about once a month or every 6 weeks or so. This store helped farmers in rural areas like ours. It would be such a treat on summer days....a Popsicle or ice cream treat! Mr. Lindsey might have some of his wife's cookies that might be shared, if you were really good! The ice cream was in cups with the little wooden spoons(how did they not get sued over those spoons??? Splinters, wood chips, wood fibers, etc...)!!LMBO!!! They also carried some vet meds that were commonly used on farms. It was a unique experience!

Oh yeah... I was thinking about the ice cream, treats, an all the other goodies it had!

LOL, Re: lawsuits and many of the old-fashioned/retro/vintage things/stuff that was around back then! So much has changed since those days.

Yeah it has. People don't want to work anymore. They think the world owes them something. I believe the ONLY thing the world owes them is a swift kick in the rear sending them out the door to get a job! Manual labor is hard sometimes, but everyone should try it once in their life!

My sentiment exactly, SM! As an older generation person who has always put in unsurmountable effort at everything I do, it irks me to no end seeing the younger generation get everything done for them and everything bought for them. IMO that sort of approach to raising children isn't doing anyone any good whatsoever.
