What is your favorite Christmas food?

What food do you always want to have for Christmas? Is it a family favorite? Does it have an ethnic heritage? Do you serve it other times of the year? Does it have a story?

I always make Tourtiere Pies (Canadian Pork Pies) using an updated recipe from my maternal Canadian dgm, Meme. It was traditionally served upon returning from midnight mass on Christmas Eve. I usually only make them at Christmas since they are time consuming to make & are more a cold weather food.

What is your favorite?

Tourtiere is a difinite must here at our house for Christmas eve dinner. I have 2 different recipes. One is a pork/beef recipe and the other is more a stew of pork, rabbit, chicken and other meats in a pie crust. the latter is a recipe from my Acadian grandmother. We also always have quiche lorraine for breakfast same as I had growing up. We also have Stolen with that and it has t have the almond past centre. No real reason just that we have always done that. Our Christmas eve meal and Christmas morning meal are pretty much the same every year.

We always make prime rib for dinner. The sides vary, but never the roast. Breakfast is usually sweet rolls from a can you bang on the counter.

Okay, you guys will either think I am crazy or will start a new tradition. We drink and then set out "Christmas Milk" for Santa Clause prior to and on Christmas day. "Christmas milk" is actually eggnog that we drink. I do not know what alcohol they mix with it, but it is a good thing to have at Christmas!

No, DeBora, I think most of us also eat, drink & be merry!

Have you tried the eggnog ice cream? I can't remember who makes it but you can stir it so it is like a shake & then add your spirits.

We have gotten so that the eggnog is too rich after drinking skim & 1/2% milk the rest of the year. I buy light eggnog and still cut it with low fat milk & then add Kahlua & fresh nutmeg. Of course, we are still eating cookies, etc with it!

I was really tired last night. lol I meant that we don't add alcohol to the eggnog at our house so I don't know which is usually added to it. But, at our house, Santa likes "Christmas Milk." lol

Gee to pick a favourite that's hard I love the whole festive package LOL

Fruit mince pies, white christmas slice and thick sliced ham, eggs and croissants for breakfast, would be my most faves.
