Drying fruit/strawberries

Anyone ever dried strawberries or made fruit leather in a dehydrator.
Right now I have one tray of strawberry fruit leather and one tray of sliced strawberries. I think the strawberries are a little tart, but don't have any good ideas on how to sweeten them.
The fruit leather I just put in a little corn syrup and that seemed to work well.
Any tips or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Here's a good idea for sweetening the fruit leather....and, NO calories....Splenda. It's great, and, can be used like sugar. I use it in a lot things. You can bake with it too.
Good luck...

Do you think the Splenda would crystalize?? I"ve never used it before, but I do know the directions say not to use sugar because it will crystalize in the drying process.
The fruit leather turned out really well, but the dried strawberries didn't work that well.

I don't think it will crystalize......as it's in like a powdery form to beging with. You could also call or e-mail the company who makes it. It desolves quickly in tea....not like sugar which you have to stir and stir.
I would give it a try with a small amount. But, I really think it would work.;-)

I think the easiest and best tasting fruit roll ups are made on the dehydrator using half applesauce and half pureed fruit or berrries. I sweeten to taste with sugar. Make the puree and put on the fruit roll up trays that come with the dehydrator or cover the racks with plastic wrap. Dry until pliable, but not sticky. Roll in pieces in plastic wrap while still warm. I keep in the freezer, but not necessary if properly dried.
As for the strawberries, mine came out tart, too. You can sprinkle with jello powder or sugar, if desired.
