Food Storage Ideas For Your Pantry

I ran across this video on YouTube the other day and thought: What a neat idea. They used 12 pack Soda Boxes to store various canned goods. I used one of mine for Refried Beans. Put the expiration date on the outside of the box with a marker.

Good idea! I usually gather the open boxes the can goods come in from the grocery (some grocers just cut them open and use the sides and botom to contain cans on their shelves). I bring them home and use them in my "under storage" of my pantry shelves for my "extra" can goods. For the winter we use every nook and cranny there is to store food for the winter especially since we can't get out lots of times depending on the weather. I have also started doing this through the entire year for when I come across some really good buys on can goods. With prices being what they are it has really made a difference as for a long time I refuse to pay regular price for anything...if it isn't on sale I don't buy it, I wait for a sale and use coupons then if I have any.

Those plastic shoe boxes work well and stack great for envelopes of seasoning mixes!

I was just at the grocery with my sister and I was razzing her about the chips she grabbed that she had to put them back as we didn't have a coupon. She said they were on sale LOL.

I am stocking up as much as I can afford as I fear prices will go through the roof with everything that is going on and I doubt they will come back down.

Roberta

I just posted a article in the frugal living section that will come out in the next newsletter about grocery prices soaring this month (October). Glad you were able to look at the video.

We are trying to continue our stocking up as usual, it's getting harder and harder though as prices rise and the size of the product gets smaller. Very glad I don't have children at home, Wow! I can only imagine what it would cost with all the "wants" list.

LOL Anna, my kids say "Let me guess you don't have a coupon for it" or if I've bought something special I get "You had a coupon and it was on sale, right?".

My Mother is impressed that my kids head to the clearance racks first when Grandma takes them shopping. I'm glad they are as concerned about spending something else's money as much as they are thiers/mine.
