Death of family member

My mom's husband just died on Saturday.(8-31)My mom and him were married for about 1 1/2 years. His name was Lewis.

About a month before that, my son and I went up to Idaho to see my family up there. (That is where they live, we live in AZ.)
My son got to know one of his grandpa's. Now, his grandpa is dead. I told him that night that he had died.

He is 7 years old. How much do they understand about death at this age? He was a little sad, but it didn't make him cry because he will never see him again. I think that maybe if he was close to him, he might have been more sad.

When we were up there, we went out on the lake and Lewis let my son drive the boat back to the dock. (Fortunately there was A LOT of open water.) My son, Daniel, enjoyed that very much. It made him feel very big to be able to drive grandpa's boat. (Come to find out, none of his other grandkids ever got to do that. Daniel thought that made it even better.)

Ok. I have blabbered enough. Any help on this matter would be appreciated.

Ok. Thanks, but does anyone really look in these folders? They are WAY at the end of the list. Also there are not very many threads/posts on the "Relationship/Family" folder.

HI THERE - I TRULY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE GOING THRU AT THIS TIME AND PLEASE KNOW THAT MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
UNFORTUNATELY I AM ALSO IN A SIMILIAR SITUATION-MY DAUGHTERS BOYFRIENDS NEPHEW PASEED AWAY IN HIS SLEEP THIS LAST WEEKEND AND HIS VIEWING IS THIS EVENING - ALTHOUGH I HAD MET THE YOUNG MAN (15 YRS OLD)AND HIS FAMILY ONCE BEFORE I STILL FEEL IT WOULD BE APPROPRIATE IF I ATTENDED THE VIEWING-WHICH IS NOT A PROBLEM FOR ME,HOWEVER WHAT DO I SAY TO HIS PARENTS UPON SEEING THEM???-MY HEART REALLY GOES OUT TO THEM AS I WOULD BE A TOTAL WRECK WERE THE ROLES REVERSED.
SO CAN ANYONE OUT THERE HELP ME - WHAT CAN I SAY BESIDES I'M SORRY FOR YOUR LOSS-OR WOULD THIS BE ENOUGH FOR NOW.
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL YOUR ADVICE AND HELP.
