Theresa, that is a shame. Luke is 6 and we still have all his blankets (he got the most, for some reason) plus the ones from the bigger kids. Some blankets are quite little but the slightly larger ones get used every winter in the car, to cover up chilly kids. We also use them when he winds up sleeping on top of his bedcovers, and needs to be covered up quickly--that happens often. So even though he hasn't been in a crib for 5 years, those handmade blankets are still put to good use. And one pure white one that someone knitted for him gets used every Christmas in our church's Live Nativity, to cover up Baby Jesus (who sometimes is played by a girl, so we have to disguise the pink snowsuit--LOL!)

If you didn't get an invite how can your sister ask if you're going
and if you'd like to go halves. No and no would be my answer.

We were never invited to the family bridal nor baby showers that my in-laws were which was fine with me. Nor did we get the birth announcements (lived in the same address for 27 yrs now). Saved me money and a day away from the house as they were all at least 2 hrs away.

We borrowed a crib, dresser and changing table from my oldest sister that had gone through their 3 kids for my 2 kids. I gave it back when we were done with kids and she started being a grandma so they would have it at their house when the babies were visiting. We also borrowed her port-a-crib and swing.

I'm wondering if the soon to be parents were wanting expensive new items so they could return them for cash or store credit. Babies out grow things so darn fast you are better off saving your money for when they are out of the crib.

I reread this thread this morning. Those family member don't know what they have missed. Well in my case they do but they refused to change their attitudes. Saved me a lot of money over the years but the heartache was big. I am so glad we have moved and I don't have any of them on FB!

I didn't have a friends and family baby shower for either of my boys, when I left work they took up a collection and gave me a huge baby hamper for ds1.

I did have a bridal shower, I still have some of those items.
