“LIFE Lessons” Essay Contest for college students and college-bound high school senio

Recognizing the character and perseverance many young people show in the face of such adversity, the Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education is sponsoring the “LIFE Lessons” Essay Contest for college students and college-bound high school seniors. Qualified entrants who submit essays about how the death of a parent or guardian impacted their lives will be eligible for scholarship money. The deadline is March 31, 2006 and participants can enter online or call (202) 464-5000 x106 to request a paper entry form.

For Students Who Have Suffered the Loss of a Parent, a Chance to Win $5,000 in Scholarship Funds The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education announces the “LIFE Lessons” Essay Contest, a program to benefit students who have suffered the death of a parent or guardian.


Who’s Eligible: College and college-bound students, ages 17- 24.

How to Enter: Students must submit an essay (500 words max) describing how losing a parent or guardian affected them emotionally and financially. Essays should address whether life insurance or other forms of insurance played any role in helping to stabilize family finances and cover college costs.

Deadline: March 31, 2006.

Prizes:
Grand prize: $5,000 scholarship
First Runners-up prizes: Three $1,500 scholarships
Second Runners-up prizes: Eleven $500 scholarships.
