Kind of a funky photo, but I like it: fishing boats at the marina in Westport on Gray's Harbor in the early morning. Almost spooky!

Here's a pic of the sand dunes we climbed over Memorial day weekend. They are about 5 hours from our house and overlook Lake Michigan.

Nice pics, that one with the suns rays is really neat that a cheapo digital cam caught the rays like that.

The one of the fishing boats is really eerie looking.

I will have to get some pics of this area. I will love showing the pics of one room school houses.

Me, again!

I get alerts from Orca Live, this really neat site run by a killer whale research center up in southern British Columbia. If you sign up, they send you alerts when the orcas are near their webcams and mics, so, if you're lucky, you can watch wild orcas playing. Pretty neat!

Anyway, the orcas were at the rubbing beach there for a good round of belly rubs there on the pebbles last night, and I tried to get some screen captures from the live video stream. Thought I'd post a few here. The sunset was incredible, too! Lovely place!

The first is of a couple of whales swimming by:

More whales!

We don't see many orcas here. Everett's on a bay off Puget Sound, and the orcas usually stick to the more open water of the Sound when passing through. While I was back east for a wedding in June, though, my husband lucked into seeing one of the local pods swimming by the lighthouse at Mukilteo. I missed it! We do see quite a few grey whales, though, but, unlike orcas that stay in pods (family groups,) grays swim alone.

Here is an orca letting off a good spout:

I like to watch the Orca Live webcams even when the orcas aren't showing off. They usually have two on, one from land and one underwater. There are always lots of fish to watch swim by; it's kind of like having one of those aquarium screensavers!

What a sunset!

I took a bunch of screenshots as the sun set over Hanson Island, but I'll be good and post one here. We have some lovely sunsets, here, too, about 350 miles south. The sun just sets the water on fire, as it does in this pic from my night with the virtual whalies:

Just one more (honest!)

Somehow I missed a great shot of two orcas breaching out of the water in front of the hills and that lovely sunset. Pic came out black! Grrrr!!!! But I did catch this closer shot of a lone orca looking as if he's swimming in molten copper:
