Im sorry it didnt work out for you. Im pretty lucky that there are several different Curves within a short distance of me. Ive already decided that if I dont like this one, I will transfer to another one.

I do understand about the convenience of having your own equipment at home too. I have a treadmill (havent used it in a while though ) but I used it at any time that I wanted to ---didnt have any time constraints.

The one good thing for me is that my DH works nights so when he gets home in the mornings, I can go or I can go in the evenings when he gets up.

Bump it up!!
A few have talked about Curves again lately, let's see if there is any interest in restarting this thread!

I now go to Curves. So does hemlynne. I know a few others have mentioned it too.

I haven't joined since moving to NC but I am thinking about rejoining once we move from this place next year.

I had a lot of fun going with my sister and then when she quit going, I forced myself to go alone--which, if you knew my back then, was a big step for me to do because I really hated my body image. I went to one where it was a pretty big building so the machines were spread out really nice. They had all of the machines too. Some of them here that I've seen are really small with not a lot of machines. I'm not sure that I would feel comfortable being so close with everyone.

What's your place like, Meg? Do they play games too? I still have my Curves bucks. lol!! If there is someone that would be allowed to use them at their place, I would mail them to them to use.

Our place has been open 4 months, so it is still fresh and new! Pale lavendar and a darker purple on walls. We have 12 machines (I Think). There are two we don't yet have. The way it works, you go twice around the circuit, then stretches. It is fun. They have just started games this month ~ I'm not a big fan of them. They tend to be a bit distracting I think. It is often busy, but not to the stage of having to wait for machines. Last night THere were 3 when I got there and then my second circuit I was totally alone with two coaches!! It was heaps of fun.

I have joined Curves and I start exercixing on Monday and start the diet two weeks later!!
My doctor said to start a gentle exercise program and from what I learned about their gym yesterday, they fit the bill.

I am the absolute worst dieter in the world, I really am, but am getting myself in the mindset to give it another go.

I am 30 pounds overweight and 37% blubber, em, body fat!!

Meg, Lynee, what has been your experience there? Are you doing either of the diets they offer? Here they offer a carb sensitive and a calorie sensitive and I'll be trying the latter and see how long I last!! LOL!!

Tami, did you rejoin?

hugs, train

Hi Donna
I love Curves. I haven't followed a diet yet. I love losing the centimetres! I have lost about 1/2 a stone (7lb) so that is pretty good I think. I would have like it to be a bit more, but there you go! I have renained steady the last two months, so now hopefully I am 'toning' I need to get back into a better routine ~ I think I managed twice this week, but have only been 6 times for April! It is good though and totally worth it!

Train, I loved Curves when I did it! Those machines are deceiving! Believe me you will get a great workout. Don't push too hard. And wait on the diet thing. Too much too fast might not last.

Sorry for the BTB. Did you clear Curves with your doctor? There might be some machines you should wait on first.

Good for you, Meg! Sounds like you are doing real well! Is your Curves close to your home?
Do you 'typically" go three times a week? That was what they recommended to em and to walk on my days "off."
I am looking forward to starting on Monday.
Don't worry, Ellen, I will take it easy if anything hurts!
I will be starting very slow!
My doc actually recommended I start Curves and/or a yoga class. Curves turned out to be less expensive and the fact that they are open all day was a big seller , too!
Yea, my doctor said the same thing about dieting. She said to exercise first for two or three weeks and then add the dieting.

Ellen, will you be rejoining?

Do any of you have the Curves book? I will be on the calorie sensitive diet in that book.

hugs, train
