Zumba Dance

Has anyone tried this form of exercise either at home or at the gym?

I rec'd a free voucher for a Zumba class at the YMCA last week and this morning I went to the class, I have not swivelled my hips so hard in ages, I think I'll be in a world of hurt tomorrow LOL But it was great fun I may even go back next week!

This class is offered at our workplace (for a small fee).

I have taken Zumba at my gym. It is a lot of fun, but a lot of booty shaking. It is a real workout. The instructor said you would learn some dance moves, if I learned dance moves in that class I wouldn't use them anywhere I go. It is really fun, especially if you bring your hubby and watch him try to do some booty shaking.
I do the ChaCha.

LOL I couldn't imagine my hubby getting into the groove he hates to dance at any time!
It is fun but the gym I was doint it at no longer does it, something about the instructor, so I've not been back ........ I booty shake at home but not quite the same as with a group of people all doing interesting versions of the instructors dance !

I've heard how much fun it is but how much of a workout is it? I understand that it gets your blood pumping but is it good for weight loss or muscle building?

If you're doing a normal class I can guarantee you will have your heart rate up in the first 5-10 minutes, they do a modified version for the older people in other classes.
So if you go somewhere to do zumba make sure you take a bottle of water and a towel to wipe your face down. I'ts definitely a work out and usually goes at least 30-45 minutes non stop it's like doing latin dancing for that long

I watched that online the other day and it does look fun. People have told me that it really wears them out.
