There are so many Grandparents raising the grandchildren these days not just providing daycare that the "empty nest" is only temporary at the best.

When I was a kid my Grandmothers split the week up and had me 2-3 days each week until first grade so I never went to a sitter.

I envy all of you who give care to their grandkids. I have one on the way, but I will never see him. My son is mad at me, and has been for ten years. My other son doesn't visit, neither does my daughter, unless I call and beg her to put me on her schedule. Just venting......really I will just adopt someone else's grandkids...........:~D

There is nothing wrong with taking someone else under your wing Cyncerp I'm sure there are kids in the neighborhood or at church that could use a Grandma.

When my boys were little each week a different g'ma had a boy per week until they were around 2ish, (so they had a baby 1 day every fortnight) then each boy went to kindy for that 1 per week to get social with kids their age (we were the first out of all our friends to get married and have kids, parents 1st g'kids) I then made sure that we visited the g'parents for lunches and granny play dates LOL
The boys are 4yrs apart so there was always only 1 to look after per day.

My eldest iwill be 20 in Oct and looking at places to rent with his mates so sometime before chirstmas he will have moved out of home with his friends, lets see how things go from there

HI Everyone!

I am finally enjoying Empty Nest now..I crave a quiet home, and it is great not to find wet towels on the floor. Also..groceries last longer, and there is less laundry.

A word of caution, you will always wonder how the kids are when they leave, and chances are when life gets tough, they will come to you for advice and MONEY..yikes!

But as a parent, we still have that inner pull to help them no matter what.

I have also heard from other parents that their adult kids are back living in the home..ugh! My hubby and I spoke about this event and figured out it is better to help them with bills, rent, a bag of groceries then to have them back in the house for who knows how long..hee hee.

Life is a struggle and if you think back to your early days, you will remember what you had to do to washing clothes in the tub,
never turning down a free meal, not having full cable or a computer, and learning to have family board game night for entertainment.

We learn from all our struggles and they make us better...really they do!

Hugs, Janet
If it doesn't nourish your soul,
