Warning about Nick Jr.com

I wanted everyone to be aware of the "family links" at the bottom of the webpage on nick.com. My 7 yr old was taking them (against the house rules) and one of the sites was Additivegames.com and she was playing "naughty games". Which she had no idea what they were saying as her sound isn't working right now but needless to say she has been grounded from the computer and all links removed from her favorites and she isn't allowed to go to nick again.

Roberta, was this in Nick or Nick JR? I poked around on both sites and didn't find anything labeled "family links."

Definitely you should contact Nickelodeon about it. They have lots of "contact us" links.

Also, you can block addictivegames.com if you don't want your daughter going there.

That's a perfect example of why we keep all computers in public areas of our house. No computers in bedrooms! We want to see what the kids are doing at all times.

Thanks for that info! My daughter love to play on Nick Jr.

I can't wait to hear if it was Nick or Nick Jr.

If you can tell us where it is, I will definitely write to them, too!

Thanks for the info. I will pass this along to my son & dil since their kids like to play games. I don't know what they go on but their computer is also where the parents can see what they are doing. If you hear any more about this please keep us informed.
Hugs, shirl

All of our computers are in the living room which is how we saw what the 7 yr old was playing and quite upset that she got there from a link at nick.com.

It is under their games listing http://www.nick.com/games/ scroll down all the way and you will see it on the left corner.

We have contacted them so hopefully they will remove the link as it isn't appropriate for any kids website to have a link to a game site that has adult content games. At least in my opinion.

I couldn't find the naughty games so I don't know if it was me or if they removed them. Thanks for the information.

DeBora, if you click on ADDICTING GAMES it will take you to addictinggames.com where I did see titles like "Candy the Naughty Cheerleader." So there is something to that.

You have to take a few steps to get there from Nick JR but it is easy enough to get there from regular Nick.

It looks to me like they are part of the same giant company. AddictingGames.com might be owned by Nickelodeon. If you look at the bottom, it has a Nickelodeon Casual Games logo. BUT it is owned by MTV networks, which should definitely be a red flag to parents to be careful.

Some of the games at Addicting Games are just fine. Some are not.

Then again, we have objections to some stuff Nickelodeon company has on TV as well--we have blocked "The N" channel from our TV for that reason.

We had prior banned dd1 (13) from AddictingGames because of the adult content of some of the games. Then couldn't believe that dd2 (7) was playing one of the adult content games and had actually bookmarked it.

We have deleted most of her bookmarks and when over the rules again when she got computer use back and told her she it not allowed to book mark anything and can only go to the websites that we left bookmarked.

I clicked on Addicting Games and all I get is this:

http://www.nick.com/games/addicting-games

I am sure if I was a child, I would find what I shouldn't immediately. Since my GKs are starting to get interested in the computer and playing online games, this interests me. So far, they aren't old enough or experienced enough with computers to be able to be left to play games without my assistance yet. But, when they are, it is good to know about these places.
