I would like to know where I can get more information about cooking heart healthy. I have tried the American Heart Association, but can not give me any suggestions for hispanic orgin cooking. All the cooking I do in my home is Mexican cooking that is high in fat, cholesterol, and salt. I was browsing through the forum list and came across this forum and decided to post my message to see what suggestions may come my way.

I find myself turning to allrecipes.com frequently for recipe ideas or variations. You also might investigate substitutions for some of the not-as-healthy ingredients used and creating you're own variations of the traditional cooking. One analogy would be using applesauce instead of oil in a baked goodie. You might try doing a websearch for vegetarian sites for hispanic recipes--they tend to have all-around healthier recipes and should at least provide fodder for further brainstorming.
