Soy

Do you take soy as a dietary supplement? In what form? Have you noticed any difference in your health?

Any health foods, in general, you are loyal to?

I try to not eat to many things with SOY in it. It interferes with thyroid production and I already have to take thyroid replacement.

I drink soy milk and use it in baking and cooking. After experimenting with various brands, I found that 'Silk' plain has the best flavor and their chocolate is wonderful.

Also, some of the soy-based meat products are very tasty. I've tried the burgers, corn dogs, and sausage and no one can tell they're not meat.

I cannot take supplements with large amounts of soy. I've tried them and then ended up wanting to sleep for two days. I also have thyroid problems but the opposite of Laurie above. Mine has been overactive but after taking medication for 13 months, it went back to normal, thank goodness.

Before I knew that I couldn't have soy, I tried Baca burgers and they were horrible. Soy milk is not much better. Soy actually has a lot of calories in it and is not really as much of a diet food as the promoters would like you to think. Check the calorie content next time you are at the store.

I drink regular milk over soy milk. Sometimes I get almond milk which does have lower calories then regular and soy milk. I am not sure why you would take a soy supplement.

Being a vegetarian, I eat many products that contain soy. I'm not a fan of soy milk, but I eat tofu, veggie burgers, soy cheese (not great cheese, but okay). I don't know if people realize how much soy is already in the products that they buy. When we lived in the midwest, there were more acres of soybeans than there was any other crop.

I have tried tampeh and seitan. They are soy meat substitutes that both taste real good. I don't eat a lot of meat but I still cook meat for my son to eat. It is nice to have a change of pace from meat sometimes. My favorite flavor of seitan is chicken flavored, it really tastes like chicken which is kinda weird.
