What is your traditional EASTER like?
We make fresh ham with cloves and peppercorns
I make a macaroni salad and sweet potatoes. I have bread/ rolls and a special dessert.
Breakfast is more traditional.
We have RESURECTION ROLLS, fresh fruit, boiled eggs, cocoa-coffee.
We read the from the gospels the resurection and spend time having our own sunrise service. Lots of fun!
Easter is a special time for me. I also enjoy PASSOVER with my family. I have a messianic passover guide. Very informative and dear to my heart!
We make the whole weekend very special. This year Maundy Thursday we are having a "prayer path" at church. A half hour walk of prayer and meditation. Good Friday is a pretty solemn day. I usually have shrimp ****tail for everyone but Maggy. Holy Saturday we celebrate in the Mexican traditon. Traditionally people would throw buckets of water on people who walked by their homes. That has died off in the past few years but our family has annual water balloon throws. It is a blast. Memin really has fun with the kids. I sometimes make candy with and/or for the kids too.
Some other Mexican traditions are visiting the 7 temples on Maundy Thursday and receiving coins having been blessed.
Good Friday there are re-enactments of the crucifictions (nothing compares to THE PASSION OF THE CHRIST....nothing )
Holy Saturday along with the throwing of water it is traditional to set off fireworks of Judas Iscariot.
This year our church is holding an egg hunt for the kids in elementary. My younger kids usually participate in the local ruritan egg hunt too.
In the past I got the kid new clothes. This year not sure. We do put baskets out for everyone.
I think Angel and Memin will get fishing equipment
I think Delia will get seed and postcard collection items
I think Dayne will get art items
I have NO idea for Magy...do you?
