Hi Connie, and all,
Gosh I'd love to weigh 145, but I know that those 20 pounds proably look as big to you as 60 or 70 look to me. I wish you the best in all your efforts. I hope we can all be an encouragement.
I had a salad and half a ham salad sandwich for lunch today. But I also munched on pretzels and crackers this afternoon. Walked in the door after school and grabbed a piece of carrot cake. So my day certainly hasn't gone as well as it should have. Didn't get to walk today in gym. We played baseball with the students. It was a lot of fun and I did get some exercise!
We're having chicken and a rice side dish tonight for dinner. I'll steam some broc., caulif, and carrots too.
The aide I work with had gastric bypass surgery about 3 yrs ago. She was 250 and now is 126. She is very strict with herself about what she eats. She can't eat much at one time so she eats often which doesn't help me when she's eating something every couple of hours! She keeps a lot of snacks in our desk too. Pretzels, crackers and cereal.
Pop, I LOVE Mt Dew!!!! The diet is even pretty good, but it seems whenever I go back to pop, I start holding weight and even creeping upwards. Even with diet pop. So I try to stay away, but now and then I HAVE to have a Mt Dew!
Have a great evening everyone! Alice

I have given up most pop. I have a sprite or 7 up for an upset tummy at times but that is it. I love diet Pepsi.

I plan on getting our meals on track this week and getting over this sinus stuff I have. As for walking I don't even want to get out of the house so ..... I think that is the depression speaking. I need to find some ways to perk me up but right now it seems hard. Needing to stop college right now really has me down.

Connie, no, haven't read that book. I will see if I can get it though. I like to sometimes go out walking by myself, it clears my head, the hardest part is making myself begin and then I get a good rythem going and I forget why I didn't want to move. Hang in there.

Bunny, I'm guessing maybe you kicked the cancer? Wonderful. Not the way to want to lose weight though.

I slipped a bit and had one too many slices of pizza for dinner but, I'll work it off after the kids go to bed.

Hugs to all,
Lisa

Alice, Mindy, Bunny, Connie & Lisa - count me in on this weight loss adventure! I really don't know what I weigh right now, but I'm guessing it's around 175; I'm 5'4". I'd like to drop about 40 lbs. For me, my biggest weakness is sweets. I LOVE to bake! If sweets are in the house, I just can't leave them alone until they're all gone.

I also suffer from depression - ever since I had kids. I'm currently taking an antidepressant. It helps a lot. Unfortunately, one of the side effects is weight gain.

I don't like to "diet" because then I feel like I'm depriving myself of something. Honestly, I don't want weight loss to be my focus. I want to make some healthy changes - more fruits and veggies, less sugar and starchy food. And, of course, being more active. Of course, if I make these changes, weight loss will happen. It's just that my weight budges so slowly, I always get frustrated and give up. If I measure my success by how much better I feel, I'm more likely to stick with it.

I will post my weight every Monday - I'll just try not to place too much "weight" on the number.

I wish you all luck on our new quest. I hope I'm able to offer you support and motivation!

Best wishes,

Kathy

Kathy, welcome aboard. And you are so right, it's not really about the number but how you feel, if you can feel more energy, be healthier. With me it's about the way I fit in my clothes more than the number. My goal is 40 lbs like I said before, this year. When I get there, fantastic but it's how I feel as well. There are so many health issues in my family, diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure. So far so good, it's not touched me but the older you get the more the chance it will show up. So it's not a diet, it's a new lifestyle, new health choices! We call can do this.

Can I join in on the weight loss? I am new to the board and find sometimes I post something but when I come back a week later I cant find where I left off. I am weighing in at 180lbs I am 5'3. I want to lose 50 lbs. I will settle for 40. I also suffer from depression. I am not on any meds except for my thyroid.
(need to be on depression) I find walking really makes me full of energy. Otherwise I have a hard time gettin going? I look forward to meeting on here and making some positive headway.

Sinatra, absolutely! Come, join the fun! Weigh in every Monday, report it, good or bad. No one here will push, make anyone feel bad if they miss a day or walking, fall of the wagon. Positive beats negative every time!
