I just read through thread, whew, took a while
I did get lots of goood info though.

I was wondering if there is a website outlining the Atkins diet?
I live far from town and the library and won't be going out that way until the end of the month when we do our shopping.

I would like to start the diet now as I have rheumatism in my feet and hope they will feel better once the weight comes off. I have around 40lbs or so to lose.

Also, another hurdle i have is I am a vegetarian as of three years ago and don't want to go back to meat. I do eat cheese and eggs and sometimes canned fish though.

I gained most of this weight when I started the vegetarian diet, so I know I am eating way more carbs, but they are the only thing that fills me up and am able to eat in a hurry. I don't like to cook much.

Hi Wildflower

You can go to for a complete outline of the diet. Check out thier message boards too. I know that there are some people who are on Atkins being a vegitarian but I dont know much about how they get the full amount of protein without eating any meat.

Have you considered the South Beach Diet? This one is a little more flexible and allows more fruits and veggies.

I started out on the SB diet and now Im on Atkins so if you have any questions, Ill try to be some help to you if I can.

You are welcome to join us at the Low-Carb threads here at Family Corner too. We are a bunch of women who are on all types of low-carb diets. There is a lot of great support there too.

I have the names of several different websites that have Atkins message boards too. If you would like them, let me know and Ill send them to you.

Please read the website before you start the diet if you cant get the Atkins books. The are so many misconceptions about this diet. All of the info. that I read from the site is free, you dont have to sign up for anything to get the knowledge that you need.

Good Luck to you!! If you do chose Atkins, the first 2 weeks are the hardest but dont give up! It really does get easier from there.

I hope to see you at our low-carb threads too. They are located in the "Recipe Exchange" Forum under Low-Carb Recipes.
