Welcome Sherbear (and husband). I've been on South Beach for 5 wks. It's pretty easy to follow once you get the hang of it. And pretty forgiving if you find yourself cheating a bit. Check out the Low Carb Dinner Ideas thread. There's lots of menu ideas and recipes there, and lots of support. Good Luck

phase 1 ideas anyone

I am on day 3 of phase 1. I dont like eggs much but I LOVE ricotta cheese.. anny ricotta cheese or cottage cheese ideas for phase1? I read on a posst that you put cocoa on it? I have put cinnamon on it along with some splena and vanilla and put it in a blender. That was pretty good.
I am going to miss my one cup of tea in the morning. I dont really like the take of the decaf tea..kinda weak.. but I gues I'll just have to get used to it...I do need to have some kind of milk or cream in it so I still put skim milk in or fat free half & half in.
thanks!
Kim

BTW, Kim, I wanted to mention some tips that I used to use for the Ricotta--the cinnamon sugar is good but if you want choc, you will still have to add some Splenda to it. You can also make a -pnut butter, choc one by adding Smuckers natural p-nut butter. Ive read that by adding some almond extract or maple flavoring that it is really good too.

I was on SB before switching to Atkins. With my slow metabolism and other stuff, I barely lost anything on SB. Im doing pretty good so far with Atkins but when I reach my desired weight, Im planning on using SB as a way of living.

Hang in there......go a little unconventional for breakfast and forget the eggs for a while.....it will get better I promise!!!!

I hate the taste of eggs. I have cottage cheese a lot for breakfast. Sometimes I mix in a tablespoon of SF jello. That's pretty good. Here's another recipe I have for breakfast:

1 pkg. SF jello
1 C boiling water
1 C ricotta

Dissolve jello in water, then put everything in a blender. I divide it between 4 cups and keep in the fridge.

And there's always Leasmom's mock dainish. That's awesome!

Mock Danish

2 oz cream cheese (soften in microwave)
1 egg
1 tblspn splenda
1 tsp lemon concentrate
1/2 tsp vanilla

mix softened cream cheese and egg. Add remaining ingredients. microwave on high for 2 minutes.

I'm new to the SB diet been doing Atkins but get frustrated and eat bread or sugar.

I feel so bad when I eat the carbs but just can't seem to stop.
So I'm here for support.

Is there a site that has a menu for this diet? I've never been good at planning menus or planning meals period. Boy I'm whinning but loosing weight is so frustrating to me and I want it to be someone elses reponsibility not mine!

Hope to heare from you all soon.

LoriMae, I KNOW how you feel. It's all so overwhelming at first. After you've been doing this a while, you lose your craving for sugar. If it worked for me, it can work for anyone. I was the biggest sugar-addict there was!

You can get some ideas from the Low Carb Dinner Ideas forum, or sometimes I go to

http://www.southbeach-diet-plan.com/index.html

It's an unofficial SouthBeach site with lots of ideas.

You can also go to prevention.com and look at their boards for the SB diet. They have a lot of recipes and ideas there. Its a pretty good site.

ajrsmom, I did go to prevention.com but can't find exactly what I'm looking for. Everyday menus is what I'm looking for.

Thanks for the support.

Question The South Beach Diet

I have bought the South Beach diet book and plan to start on Monday of this coming week...I have done the Atkins but missed the wholesome fruits and grains...

I was wondering if any of you ladies had any experiences with the diet good or bad and if you have any tips etc.

Thank You...

(I can't blame my ds's for my tight pants anymore )
