We have the spin brush. My daughter loves to brush. I let her brush by herself and then check them over. I then help her brush where she needs more brushing.

Sueb- I've looked at her teeth for cavities, but haven't been able to see any. I'll have to look for the gum irritation. I had'nt looked for that.

I let my son just do his own teeth, in these days with so many product designed to help us preserve our teeth if a 2 y'o wants to exert his/her independence let them....may try to clean them once a week...the rest of the time let them be responsible. If they are going to the dentist, taking reasonable care brushing, and getting flouride treatments, let them be.
