Question Cornice/Valance Frame??

It's been awhile, but I've seen on tv, a cornice (I think that's what you call a square you can put over your curtain rod) that's like a frame made out of something soft (maybe styrofoam?) that you can put material over and tuck in, so you don't have to sew. Then you mount it over your curtain rod. I've looked everywhere, but I can't find them. Does anyone know where I can buy one??? Thanks!

I saw something similar on Try them and see if it what you want. It looks pretty simple.

No one at my house is handy in the woodshop, so I found some cornice kits at JoAnn's and Han**** fabric stores. They are adjustable to fit several sizes of windows and you can find the fabric while you are there to match your decor. I watch too much HGTV and love all the simple decorating tips.

You can also make these yourself very easily just using sheets of styrofoam that you can buy at any craft/hobby store. You just make a simple two sided box with ends by cutting the foam to size and gluing with a glue made for foam or a low temp hot glue gun. You can just wrap and tuck the fabric using a thin bladed spackle knife or icing spreader. It's actually a lot of fun!

Ashley RE: Cornice box info τΏτ

Hi Ashley, I haven't been here in over a year, I'm surprise my account is still open. LOL, Anyway I was reading your post today, I know it's been a while since you posted this. Did you ever find out about making the cornice box? If not I maybe able to help you. I make window treatments, before I use to work making all their Interior decorating stuff for a big company, but now I do them for myself and friends. If you still are interested in learning how, I can give you a few tips and you can make them for yourself. They are not hard to make if you have a bit of sewing knowlege and a staple gun. Let me know. Thanks Mellie
