new color in my great room

Now we need to paint. Sometime. I don't know when but this is my challenge. My new drapes are cocoa, mini blinds white/bone. I am thinking about a plum color on the south wall and a soft putty gray on the other three walls. I may need to do a faux treatment so the plum isn't so heavy. I have a sage green with gold couch. All the wood is light walnut or dark oak. The floor is oak. Dh hates the idea of plum. I don't want any more tans since part of the kitchen is tan and my bedroom is chocoalte milk.

I know how hard it can be picking out the right colors. My dh wants like a burndgey/red over the fireplace as an accent color.I am not sure about it.We have part of the walls done for the living room but at times i wish he would just pick the colors so we could start painting again.

My dh hates the colors I came up with. He can't come up with a color he likes. He never likes the colors until they are on the walls. I am blessed, I can 'see' in my mind what the colors will look like on the wall. If I am surprised it is because it looks better than I thought it would. lol

Connie, I just finished off a pack of Necco Wafers and I think the colors you picked will look like the ones in the wafers and that it will look fabulous!!

Thanks Ellen! Eat some Necco Wafers for me okay? Those aren't peanut safe candy and I haven't had any for years. LOL

I love the colors that you've mentioned but I'm having a hard time picturing them altogether.

cocoa--drapes
bone --blinds
plum-1 walls
gray - 3 walls
sage green and gold couch

How about a slightly darker sage green on the 3 walls with buttery yellow/cocoa faux 1 wall.

or one wall of dark sage green with the other 3 walls a shade somewhere between the bone and cocoa.

or I could even see the plum on the 1 wall with the others a shade of sage green as long as you accent in other areas of the room with the plum and brown colors.

But I don't like the idea of gray with the browns. JMO

I can't wait to hear what you choose. I always have the toughest time choosing colors, too! Have fun with it. Don't let it get you down!

First off congrats on the weight loss! Yeah!!

The gray is a soft soft off white gray. I had planned on sage green for years but for some reason now I don't want it. I have my feng shui class tomorrow and want to talk to the teacher about color in this room. I can't wait!

Thanks for the congrats!!

Please let us know that your teacher says! That has to be an interesting class.

I do the same thing with painting .... I plan for such a long time for certain colors and then once the time comes, I'm tired of the colors. lol!

Good Luck with whatever you do end up choosing!!

Can I ask what do you call a "great" room?
Trying to figure out what we'd call the same room, I'm thinking our lounge room

It was a living room and a dining room, two rooms. We removed the shared wall so now it is one large room , 17x30. Sometimes the dining room is on one side sometimes it is one the other. I have had dh put phone and cable hookups all over the room so I can rearrange to my hearts delight. Also in fung shui, it is good to move things around. Make more good energy.
