chuckle Need Some Suggestions, please!

I'm about to re-decorate my kitchen and one thing I've noticed on some of the home improvement shows on tv is painting or stenciling different quotes on your wall. I think it's a cool idea, but I'm not sure what I want. I don't really have a "favorite" quote and I'm not sure where to go about finding some good ones. Does anyone have any suggestions??

kitchen stenciling

I have a birdhouse/bird theme throughout our home. So, when we did our kitchen over, above the cupboard is about a 6 inch space, closed in. So, on this I painted birds and vines. Above the sink, we have a valance that comes down so far so you can't see the light. On this I painted the words, "HIS EYE IS ON THE SPARROW"; along with a couple more birds and vines and flowers. Everyone remarks about this colorful border and saying, loving it as much as I do. So, take a theme of anything you hve or collect, and go for it! Angels, birds, whatever....just do your thing! You can always paint over it if you decide you dont' like it. Take courage in hand and be brave...if you like it, that is all that matters! Good luck hon!

Hi, Sounds like a wonderful kitchen it will be. Do you already have a theme to go wiht the quotes? Fruits, veggies, wine....?

Try www.twopeasinabucket.com

They have some really cute poems you could probably just take a line or two from that you may like.

Good luck, sounds like a really pretty kitchen.

kitchen quotes

I think if you just do a search for "quotes" you'll probably come up with quite a few sites to check out. Here are some of my favorite kitchen type quotes:

Not all the banquets in halls of wealth,
With display of silver and lace
Can compare with simple, wholesome food
Across from a friendly face.
~Guideposts

Relaxation, communication and a measure of
beauty and pleasure should be part of even the
shortest of meal breaks.
~Edith Schaeffer~

When we eat the good bread, we
are eating months of sunlight, weeks
of rain and snow from the sky, richness
out of the earth.
~Monica Shannon

I am not a glutton -- I am an explorer of food. -- Erma Bombeck

People underestimate the therapeutic power of dessert. After a few bites of a really good brownie, you suddenly forget your problems.
~ Emily Luchetti: cookbook author

The real homemaker is a cook at heart, and a good cook is an artist at heart.
~The International Cookbook-1929

A little herb patch, like a small
vegetable garden, is making life
happier for many a cook.
~Rosetta E. Clarkson~

There is no trouble so great or grave that cannot be much diminished by a nice cup of tea. ~ Bernard-Paul Heroux

A man's character and his garden both reflect the amount of weeding that was done during the growing season.
--W.F.C., in the Houston Post

I have found such joy in simple things;
A plain, clean room, a nut-brown loaf of bread,
A cup of milk, a kettle as it sings...
~Grace Noll Crowell

No clever arrangement of bad eggs ever made a good omelet. -- C. S. Lewis

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the
seeds you plant.
--Robert Louis Stevenson

Hope these help!

Peggy

A theme would make the difference. If you don't have a quote that you like then you could stencil pictures or something else. Say if you like coffee, you could stencil coffee cups, coffee pots, etc. even a cup of coffee with the steam coming off the coffee. Remember, whatever you decide on you have to look at this everyday until you decide to do this again. Experiment, have fun with it!

quotes !

Hello Speaking of using quotes in decorating !
I have an old childs easel chaulk board......every week I write a different saying or quote on it .....it looks so cute in the dining room...everyone has to pass it to get to the kitchen ....
sometimes I write funny ones ......other times serious ones to make you stop and think......
My youngest dd is learning to read and loves helping me find the right one for the week.
I get many of mine out of the country magazines that publish cute sayings along the edges of the pages :-)

Good luck with the kitchen :-)

Lisa

I've found too many by just doing a search for "sayings". I've been thinking about doing our kitchen in painted and decorated birdhouses. Have a friend who just finished doing a kitchen in the Coke theme and it is really cute but not what I want right now.

I have a plaque with a victorian (chunky) woman on it - just her face and upper body - and it says

A closed mouth gathers no food
