I will be leaving them together to save space.

They usually get along fine but the last few days they have been fighting like cats and dogs! My DD thinks that she is her brother's age and she thinks that she can do everything that he can do. Then he picks at her!

Welcome to my world! I have 4 years between older DS and DD, and 6 between DD and Luke. It's like that ALL the time here.

We just moved our 4 yr old out of the crib into bunk beds with her 10 yr old sister. The house rule is the 4 yr old is not allowed on the top bunk. They have shared a room since DD2 was old enough to sleep in the crib.

Linda---just reading this thread-were your grandchildren in CA at the time-I understand that CA CPS is very tough!! they tried to remove a friends son because he looked malnourished-but if they had really looked at his dad they would have seen why they boy was so thin(our friends were basically like Jack Sprat and his wife..LOL)
My dd and sil got bunkbeds for my oldest dgd's room-looking to the future. My youngest gd was not and is not allowed on the top bunk, but of course she got up there. Actually the day she fell she was climbing the ladder and hadn't actually made it to the top yet and right now no one can get to the top bunk because we need a better ladder-I broke the last one, after my dd had broke it and repaired it....LOL(not made for adults)
My brother and sister shared a room for years and they didn't have any unusual problems. They had single beds against opposite walls though.

When I was living with my father, I had to share room with my step-brother for a year or so. My father made an Ikea-like shelf-furniture, which could be used from both sides, and put it in the middles of the room, dividing it in 2. He coverd half of the blanks from one side, and the rest from the other, using a strong fabric, so I could fill my spaces from my side, and my brother from the other. Plus we had some intimacy for studying or whatever. As you can see, its quite easy to build and you can paint it girly on one side and boyish on the other .

I really like that idea!

Great thinking on your Dad's part.

I loved shopping at Ikea when we lived in Pa. but here in NC, there aren't any.
