Basement ideas

Hey I saw this post and I thought, I really could use some ideas and help with our basement!! Our house has a fairly large, dry basement with two egress windows and it is plumbed for a full bathroom but we don't have the $$ right now to have it all done up right. We did put a rug and some old sofas down there and the kids do go down there and play PS2 and watch tv most of the year. But when winter comes it is very cold, there are some heat ducts in the ceiling (DH added more when we moved in) but the floor is cement and the walls are cement. Sooooo, I am trying to figure out an inexpensive way to warm the basement up for winter. It seems like such a waste of good space and it would be a wonderful place for the kids to hang out, and maybe I could even set up a craft/scrapbooking area. Anyone have any ideas on how we could do this without breaking the bank??
live each day to it's fullest....

You might try calling a local carpet store and ask if they have any bound remnants. Those can usually be had pretty cheaply and it's better than sitting on a cement floor.
If you get some inexpensive fabric to hang on the walls it will insulate them a bit too.
Looking forward to others' input; I'd like to make our basement a nicer place too!
