March~In like a lion and out like a lamb~ Crafts for kids

You all know the saying If March comes in like a Lion then it will go out like a Lamb or vice versa. I use this as an opportunity for theme oriented crafts.

Any others have some lion or lamb crafts for preschool aged kids to share???

I remembered making the lamb in school ....remember using cotton balls and a paper plate?

I did some searching for something like that and came up with this:

I dont remember our lambs looking as cute as the one in the picture though, lol!

GREAT website for crafts

Check out www.daniellesplace.com - it is one of my ABSOLUTE favorites for Christian crafts - I use all the ideas to supplement my Sunday School lessons for preschoolers.

Enjoy!

chuckle Lion and Lamb Hand Puppets

Lion & Lamb Puppets

You will need:

construction paper
paper lunch bags
glue
scissors
pencil

1. Draw and cut out facial featuresfrom construction paper. Glue the features to the bottom of a paper lunch bag.

2. For the lamb's head, cut strips of paper and curl them by wrapping around a pencil.

3. To make the lion's mane, cut a circle from paper. Then cut slits around the edges and use a pencil again to curl the fringe a little.

4. To make the body, draw and cut a section from paper and glue it to the front of the bag.

5. Place your hand inside the bag and curve your fingers over the fold to move the puppet.

This project is from the FamilyCorner.com website. For pictures of the lion and lamb puppets, go to: http://www.thefamilycorner.com/archives/kids/22.shtml

They are really cute!

A cute idea for a sheep is to cut an oval for the body and a circle for the head. Use cardstock. Paint or color the face black. Add black ears. Glue elbow macaroni to the head and body. Paint white. Use 2 clothspins and paint them black. Attach them to the body for your legs.

I think you have covered basically what we have done for this. The paper plate is the big one - cotton balls for the lamb and add yarn around the paper plate for the lion. I forgot about the macaroni, but have seen that one too. Kids love puppets too so you could do a smaller scale and put the face of a lamb and lion on a popsicle stick.
