I crocheted a doll!!

I was looking online at some things to crochet. Well, I happened upon some dolls, and DD saw them over my shoulder and said she liked them. So I said that I would make her a doll, but it wouldn't look like those dolls. She like that idea, so I promised her that I would make her one.

Her b-day is on the 24th of this month, so I set a time frame for myself (bear in mind that I have NO idea how to crochet a doll!). I sat down last night to try to figure out how to make a leg for the doll. I don't have a pattern to go by, so I knew this was going to be a challenge.

I started with a leg... then another, and before I knew it I was working on the head! I finished two dolls last night (faces and hair included)!! Granted, they are nothing fancy, just basically stick figures made out of crochet yarn. (I made them out of one continuous peice of yarn.)

I made another today just to be sure I actually learned how to do it. I made it in front of DD, and when I was finished I gave it to her. I let her pick the colors of hair, eyes, and mouth. She loves it!! She hasn't put it down since I gave it to her!!!!

I'm thrilled, and I just had to share! :D
(now I just have to teach myself how to make the clothes for her, and I'll be all set!! LOL)

Have a great day!
Row.

Wow that is great. I know how to crochet but I would not be able to figure out how to make a doll like that. Are you willing to share your pattern?

How old is your DD? Bet she loves that baby since she had a part in making her. Has she named it?

Eyes you have a special talent there.

Happy to be here again

Thanks for the reply. Yes, DD named her doll "Francine" - a character from the TV cartoon "Aurthur" on PBS... It's one of her favorite shows. She is turning 4 this month.

I have since figured out how to make clothes for them. I also made one for my DS - he's 17 months... we named his doll "Icky". DS already recognizes the doll when we call him by name. LOL It's too cute really.

Thanks for your comments. I'm not really sure how to tell the pattern. It's more of a feel it out sort of thing. I'm going to try to sell some this year as well, at craft shows and bazarres (sp). So, we'll see how that goes.

Thanks again.
Row.
