Wow!! what wonderful ideas!! Thanks everyone--you got my brain moving on some ideas for all the flower vases!! I put some lights in one beautiful glass vase and added some silk flowers and it really looks pretty!! I'm going to dress up a few with ribbon and add candies and cookies to give as gifts. It will be a good way to declutter my home and still find some fun gifts. thanks again to all!

Lightbulb use for a penny bank

I just wanted to add that a vase can make a pretty penny bank.

We have been using a large glass vase to collect our spare change for years. Because the vase is so pretty, it can sit out somewhere visible and convenient to use. Easy to throw spare change into...and easy to grab some out in a pinch.

This could also make a cute gift in the right circumstances:

1. A vase full of pennies for a child who has just started a savings account, or who you know is saving their money for something special.

2. A (small) vase full of quarters for a college student who has to use the laundromat.

Be sure to decorate with a pretty bow and include a card of explanation!!!

Hi, if you have big glass vases with simple design (like square, triangle or simple cilindre) and no pattern on them, than you can fill them with mix of mandarines and lemons, or with unexpensive X-mas glass balls (mix of two colours), or with coloured eggs for Easter. I've seen this idea in designers magazines and in furniture stores.
HTH,

I like filling a vase with colored plastic eggs for easter. Any other ideas?

Baby flower pots (color block cubes, hobby horses) use in babies room or bath for Q-tips, cotton balls, baby washcloths, diaper pins, etc.

A friend years ago had a collection of those little flower holders that are for babies birth gifts (color blocks, hobby horse, etc.) she kept collections of markers and ink pens on her desk at work, they looked so cute.

I have never met a flower vase I didn't like and coudn't see possibilities for. In the kitchen, use for kitchen accessories like spatulas, pizza cutters, cookie cutters (wider flower pots), vegetable slicers, etc.

Anna. Did you use cloth diapers?

Hi Margaret

No they weren't popular in 1979.

Nice hearing from you, Anna.

Boy, in our neck of the woods, cloth diapers were still very much at their height in 1979.

Just goes to show how geography plays such an important key as far as what we use and don't use.
