Hello Spacedup, your soap recipe sounds easy enough...I think I will start with the smaller batch since I am a newbie to this! I am going to check Good Will for a pot to cook the soap in first.
Thanks for your recipe!

Happy Washing Day to ya!

Thank you Janet.

Hi Janet,

Yes, it is easy to make. Great idea, checking at Goodwill for a pot to use. I think the small batch is great to start out with...use some to wash towels first and see if anyone inthe family is allergic to it...that way you don't waste to much if they are. Should your family be allergic to it...pass it on to an other family member or a friend to try.

Thank you and have fun making it !

I've read and heard you should use stainless steel for pots.... Hope that helps!

Lard and Lye Soap

Carol, I tried the lard and lye soap recipe I found on the internet. It was easy enough, but here it is 2 weeks later and it is pretty soft and it had liquid around it after it set up a couple of days. Any ideas? I would still like to try one of your recipes if you don't mind. Thanks, Lori

Spacedup, when making laundry soap do you have to worry about the water that you use that it doesn't get mildew or smelly?

Laundry soap

Janet, I was kind of wondering about that myself. I want to try this but I think I may 1/2 the recipe . I keep all those ingredients on hand. My husband will only use Ivory. I broke my let almost 4 months ago and haven't been able to work, so I keep looking for ways to cut expenses, plus I love the idea of making it myself.

I love the idea of making my own soap too as long as it doesn't make us itch...so I liked Spacedup recipe using ivory soap.

Sorry about your broken leg? That must really be tough on you!

I am always looking for a way to save money too, it seems as if money just doesn't go far enough anymore. I hate that!
