Question I need Crafting Help!

I need help. I am looking for a large (over 12 inches) extruded styrofoam heart.
I am making wreaths out of old (some antique) Christmas balls and ornies. I cannot find these wreath forms anywhere. I DO live in the 'sticks' though compared to most people. I checked Michael's when I was in the BIG CITY about 100 miles away last week and no luck. I also checked some craft sites on line but I'm not the best computer person so maybe someone out there knows of someplace else I could try. If anyone has any idea where I should
look please LMK. Thanks a bunch!

Styro Heart

Comic Sans
I used to work at a florist and we used the styrofoam hearts you were talking about for funerals. The cheapest place to find these hearts is... believe it or not... at the cemetary. You MUST FIRST ask permissin from the cemetary director, but usually each season they clean up the plots and remove any of the decorations that have been left and they throw them away. You can talk to them about when they will be clearing the plots and if they may save them for you. People do this quite often so you may have to share. I know for a fact this is done because I remember making a special piece for a client and then about 3 months later a different lady came into our shop and asked if I would redo the silk flowers on her wreath so she could hang it on her door and my mouth fell open when I looked up and saw that wreath I had made for my friend! When I asked her where she got it she told me about the cemetary and that as long as people didnt go in and steal from the grounds, it was ok to take from what they had cleared. But please CHECK FIRST! Hope this has helped.

Thanks

I have got to admit I never would have thought of this. Just goes to show that there are so many things we aren't aware of. This is such a good idea. I never thought of the florist either! I think I will try there first as it is cold here and I think the cemetaries have already cleaned up for the winter. Thanks so very much for the ideas. I am not depressed about this anymore....you've given me new hope that I will actually be able to get this craft started.

Thank You!

Well, I tried the florists and one did have a large heart shape but it was made from the green foam that you wet and they wanted $25.00!! I thought that was highway robbery! Another florist said he may be able to order one for me. So, I will keep trying.

As far as JoAnn Fabrics goes......yes that is where I got my 12-inch heart shaped form but it just isn't large enough for what I really want to do. They do not carry any larger ones.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. I really appreciate the help.

Pinkie Winky Thanks AGAIN!

Thanks for all of the information. There used to be a Ben Franklin in town and I remember one up in Traverse City, it was downtown. Not sure if it is still there or not. I will check into that.

The site is great except I would have to buy a dozen of the hearts and I don't need that many. 15" is better than 12". So now at least I know that somebody makes a larger size! I was beginning to doubt that.

I will keep looking.

I have a Ben Franklin up the street, my favorite store LOL ;-) I can always buy one and send it to you if you like. I don't know if they have them, I'd have to go look. But noone has to twist my arm to make me go in there!

chuckle Sounds Familiar

Sounds very familiar to me! I am the very same way with the Second Chance shop in our town. I am in there 3 or 4 times a week. I have found the neatest stuff! I can't stay away! Hubby thinks I'm nuts. I usually try to take in a bag of things, typically household goods, that way I feel like I'm helping out both ways plus I'm getting rid of my old stuff. It is an Oasis thrift shop that helps abused women and children.

And I would so appreciate it if you would take a peek for me at your Ben Franklin. Please let me know if you find anything. You guys are so nice.
