Bottles Of Hope From Empty Medicine Bottles

Medicine From An Empty Bottle

Turn medicine bottles into Bottles Of Hope.

Just take empty medicine bottles, wrap them with polymer clay and bake them for 15 minutes at 265 degrees. For a little shine, add floor wax. You don't have to have cancer or be sick. Everyone needs hope. Our country needs hope. All the bottles are decorated different. Some are encrusted in tiny pearls, others are topped with clay petals. They all touch the heart. You cannot buy hope. It is a thoughtful gift to give.

SueAnn, those are great! You could even attach to a necklace and wear around neck. They would make great gifts and there will always be the reminder of the message of hope for the giver and the recipient.

Is there a poem or message that goes with it? Maybe rolled inside bottle? Did you also wrap the top with clay too?

cynstenquist.....Read about it in my local newspaper. It is going over strong in hospitals. Nurses are giving them to patients to put notes inside of (wish notes ). They say it helps the patients.

Here is a website that tells all about it.

Thanks for the website link Sueanne. This is definitely a worthwhile endeavor! I'd like to get involved in something like this, too. Another forum I visited a while ago was painting memory boxes for hospital patients - I looked into it but the hospitals in my area had something else going (blankets, stuffed animals). I wanted to get involved and I think I'm going to try something like this!

cynstenquist.....Think it would be a great to help with this endeavor. There is a website that has a message board that talks about what they do and where they get their supplies. Found it very interesting.

SueAnne, I know that forum. I joined but I never set anything up. I'll have to reactivate. Deb Malewski is one of my favorite painters and in our emails she told me about this place. I'll check it out again.

Sueanne, I love the idea of bottles of hope. I am sure if you don't do the clay thing that you could make nice labels for the bottles. Maybe even on computer. I can't believe I didn't see this before! Any other ideas?
