I made some gift baskets for a few relatives. I got some ideas from some friends and made some themed baskets with all sorts of stuff. it was a lot of fun coming up with baskets to fill. I made a movie themed basket, a toy basket with stuffed animals and bed buggs for my aunt, and a sports themed basket. Creative way to do gifts and fun too.

I don't know how gifts will go over, we haven't haven't exchanged gifts yet.

I made for my nieces crocheted hats, scarves and purses for their 18 inch dolls. Dd loved hers. For my 16 y o niece, I made her a purse out of a pair of jeans. It is so cute. I managed the lining too.... with some help from OSI. My MIL and SIL will recieve hand painted clay pots with a plant in them. Poor plants they don't like the weather.... BILs will get homemade jellies and jams.

We will see...... I won't hold my breath that I will even receive a thank you.... verbal or written BUT I KNOW I made them nice gifts. No guilt on my part.

The only things I made were cookies, candy and jams.

Everything was well received by all that were recipients.

I need to start a list because I always seem to forget how many people we give to.

My sister knitted some scarves and hats this year for some family members. she's very creative and always shows me up with her gifts...argh. But it's ok, I've come to realize it's hard to beat what she gives. We both know it. She gave out earrings too that she made that went over really well. Even though the bed buggs that I gave to the kids went over well, her gifts tend to overshadow, sometimes simply out of expectation of what she'll give. It's even fun for me to see sometimes....

WGDad, the baskets sound like fun. I never thought of doing themed baskets. What would you put in a movie basket? Popcorn, a movie , I am not too creative when it comes to those types of things. It sounds like fun though. Bed bugs sound cute too. What wonderful ideas.

Hi al, I didnt make as many things as usual this year because I never seemed to have enough time,I did make up a Pasta basket for SIL, and in it I put Spaghetti, jars of sauce, breadstix, and a Pasta Pot, she loved it! I also helped DD make the no sew afghans, she wanted to make 1 for her MIL, and 6 friends and needed help getting them finished, and everyone loved them as well.Hope you all have a safe and Happy New Year and may all your troubles stay in 2004!
hugs Sandie

WGDad, I see that you bought bed buggs, did you happen to buy them online? I came across a site for them tonight and then I saw their Pittsbugg---Pittsburgh Black and Gold bug and I knew they had to be made from somewhere around here.

They are made in Sewickley, not very far from me at all.

Is this the same place where you bought them? Just wondering....... its a small world!

Hey ajrsmom - How about that! I did get the bed buggs online. A friend of mine had told me about them and sent me to the site. 'Didn't notice where they were made. I was glad to find them, anyway. Made great gifts. Did you happen to order any?

Glad to hear the jeans purses went over well. I made one for my little sister in USA theme and she absolutely adored it. She said all her co workers liked it too.

I also made both of my sisters waxed teddy bears (scented) they were so amazed that I had made them. Course I bought the bears, just dipped in scented wax.

My mil loved her crocheted scarf.

So I would say no one was disappointed in their gifts and of course, all loved the candles and scented lotions I made.
