Hi all, Not too sure if this is the same thing with the gelatin but a friend gave me this recipe last year and we made a few with this poem attached:

Smelly Jelly
Here is a little something thats cute by far. Its a liquid when poured into a jar. Its not to be eaten, its not for your belly. Its to freshen your room, its called Smelly Jelly.

the recipe I used was:

2 cups water
4 Envelopes of knox gelatin

2Tablesp salt
several drops of your favorite fragrance oil.

Bring 1 cup of water to a boil.Stir in the gelatin until dissolved.Add remainng water and salt.Add a few drops of food color if desired.Pour into jelly jars.Cover the top with netting material and tie with ribbon.

Smiles Sandie

I thought I might include a picture of the wine glass freshners with charms so you can all see what they look like..

Sorry for the camera/picture quality.. if there is a way to improve the pics, I am not smart enough to figure it out.

Just cruious

How did all the home made gifts go over? What worked? What didn't? Which ones were a big hit? Which ones will you make again?

I'm taking a few notes for next year.

I made a bubblegum pot for my MIL and she loved it. I posted it in the crafter area. Thanks to all the help from Cynstenquist. Now I have several requests from other family members who want one. It makes me feel good that she was so happy with it and they all liked them so much.

theirmom, I'm glad your gumball pots worked out and now you have orders for more! You've started something there! Glad I could help.

I made my mil a GlassTile block night light. I painted the front with daisies and ladybugs and wrapped a ribbon around the block and deco'd the top with berries and twigs. She and my sil's loved it and thought it was so unusual. They wanted to know where I come up with all my creative ideas. I just smiled and winked at my dh - he knows...all those hours I spend sifting through catalogs, magazines, window shopping, talking to others, here on FC and of course the internet!!!!!

I also made a glass tile block night light for my newest nephew. My ds decor'd room with trains in bright and fun colors. I printed off a train graphic from a program that I bought (I belong to an on-line graphics club) and decoupaged it to the front of block. I wasn't as pleased with the results, but she loved it!!!

The hardest thing about doing these glass block lights is drilling the hole. I finally bought a special core drill bit and though it takes some time to drill (you need water), the hole is clean without any chipping!

I also made a few dozen lightbulb ornies. I've posted these pics on the craft photo thread.

I'm going to keep making these throughout the year. Hopefully I'll be ahead of the game for next christmas! If no new ideas don't come along and wham me!

love, cyn
