I need YoYo craft ideas

I love making yo-yo's and I use the Christmas patterns for earmuffs on my potted snowmen. I've seen them strung as a garland on trees and as appliques on quilts, shirts, etc... Does anyone have any sites, patterns or ideas on other things I could use yo-yo's for? I need smaller, faster projects.

Cyn, I love making Yo-yo's too..I used to have a quilt size made of them, and never got the backing put on, but I used it for a wallhanging over my bed...instead of a headboard. You can also make pillow tops. I have also have found where people have made very large ones, stuffed them and made comforters that way...

I have a huge plastic zipper bag that used to hold a comforter filled with yo-yo's so I am always looking for projects for them too.

I work more on them in wintertime.

Love Janet

Lightbulb Thank You

Ginger, thank you for the wonderful sites. I was so excited to see all the other things I could use Yo-Yo's for.

Has anyone ever made a vest using Yo-Yo's? I'm looking for a vest pattern.

Someone also recommended that I make a lined tote bag with the yo'yo's on the outside. I though that sounded like a very unique and fun project. Anyone have an easy tote bag pattern?

Lightbulb Thank You

Vicky, thanks for the web site. I love the yo-yo angel pin. Wouldn't they make cute ornies, too? Very cute. I found some cute sayings about angels, too. Thank you!

Janet, I love the idea of the bed spread. That would take alot of yo-yo's! And, you have a whole bag of them!?! it must have taken ages to make them all. That's wonderful! I love the idea of a pillow covered in yo-yo's. They would make great Christmas gifts!!!

Ginger posted some fun sites with other yo-yo projects. check them out, way cool.

Thank You friends!

Cyn, Yes that is alot of yo-yos! lol But I have very long winters here and it is something I can do when I am watching tv..lol
My Grandma taught me when I was 12. Almost 40 yrs ago! Gee, and I still love them..lol

My favorite was the window covering..it was long and wide enough to hang it so both sides were pretty...the only problem I had was the sun was hard on the thread...sun rot..boo-hoo

I want to make and leave one for my son for when I pass, along with the directions, and the template I have..a wooden lid for a jar, from my grandma..funny whenever I see that, I think of her, and her love.

Love Janet

Becky, those turkey are too cute. It would be a fun project to teach the young women in my church and for my oldest son who works for Boys & Girls Club.

Thanks Ginger for the tote bag pattern. It's a easy pattern I could really knock out a few if I can get a bunch of yo-yo's made up like Janet! LOL.

Janet, what a lovely legacy your grandmother left you. I have a quilt my grandmother made for me. It's made out of fabric that she used to make dresses and shirts for her grandkids. It's very special to me.

When you make your yo-yo's do you turn the edges down or leave raw edge showing? How do you pull them tight enough so the hole is small?

thanks alot my "yo-yo" friends.
