Falling Leaf Pillow

Well since our summer is almost over I thought this would be nice to start for the Fall.

Falling Leaf Pillow

Materials
1 yd. Reets Relish felt
1/2 yd. Black felt
1/2 yd. Victorian Rose
Black floss
1 Bag fiberfill
Glue

Directions
1. From the Reets Relish felt, cut two 18" squares for the pillow and four 1/4"x7" pieces for the ties.

2. Trace the leaf pattern onto the black felt and the rose felt and cut out. Trim the edge of the rose felt leaf by 1/8". Place the rose leaf on top of black leaf. Using a running stitch, sew veins inside leaf. Using a buttonhole stitch, sew around the outside of the leaf. Attach the leaf to the pillow front by gluing or sewing.

3. Using a running stitch, make 4 concentric outlines in the pillow around the leaf. Refer to the photograph.

4. With the right sides together, stitch the pillow front and back together, stopping 1" before and after each corner to allow space for the tassels to be inserted and leaving an opening for stuffing on one side. Turn, stuff and sew the large opening closed.

5. To make the tassels, cut 4 pieces each from black and rose felt, 3"x31/2". Fringe the pieces by cutting every 1/4", stopping 1/2" from top. Layer black felt onto rose felt and roll tightly, gluing to hold in place. Glue these into each corner of the pillow. Extra stitching may be needed to secure the tassels in place. Tie the 1/4"x 7" ties around the tassels.

Approximate Crafting Time: 4 hrs.
Skill Level: No experience needed
