Fruit Cake Cookies

Fruit Cake Cookies

1 ˝ cups butter
1 cup brown sugar
4 eggs
3 cups flour
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon all spice
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons soda
3 tablespoons buttermilk
2/3 cup whiskey
1 lb. cherries (candied)-chopped
1 lb. pineapple (candied) – chopped
1 box white raisins
2 lbs. pecans – chopped
1 lb. dates – chopped

Cream butter, sugar, add eggs. Set aside. Mix all the dry ingredients together and add
the chopped cherries, pineapple, and dates. I usually use a little more than half of the dry
ingredients over the fruit. (Use more if necessary) Use hands and work it in good so the
chopped pieces won’t stick together. (They will be floured good,) Add the remaining dry
ingredients to the butter, sugar, eggs mixture. Add the milk and whiskey. Mix well and
add the fruit and nuts last. This also takes your clean hands to mix. Drop with a cookie
dropper. Bake at 275 degrees for about 25 minutes.

This recipe will make about 21 dozen – 1 ˝ to 2 inch cookies or you can make them
larger. Takes quite a bit of time-all the chopping but the result is worth the effort.
