I have a Rival 6 qt. oval crock pot. It seems to be perfect for our family of 6. It has 3 settings: high, low and auto. On auto it cooks on high for 2 hours and then switches itself to low (perfect for cooking rice in on Sunday while at church!). I wish I had the one with the 3/4 and 1/4 inserts though!

new crock pot

LMJBEARS--Your crockpot base can be used as a grill? More details please! My crockpot "died" about 3 months ago, and I am shopping too! How do you grill on it?

In response to NEAVON12:

From Booklet:
“Grilling on Electric Slow Cooker Base”
“Small quantities of food can be cooked on the non-stick coated surface of the slow cooker heating base. Follow the quidelines below. Due to the low wattage of the base, cooking time will be longer than using a large griddle or skillet.”

I have a Rival 6 Quart Oval Crockpot. I really love it! It has plenty of room for any recipe I have tried. It is really great for something like a roast. I just made a HUGE amount of spaghetti sauce and it fit great. I have the one with a black crock and a stainless steel exterior. I really like the exterior, it is easy to clean up if spills happen.

Good luck with your choice!
Jenna
