New Hybrid Cars

Does anyone at FC own any of the new hybrid cars? I'm thinking of looking at the Toyota Prius but wanted to get some current owner feedback.

THANKS!

The wife of one of my dh's good friends has one. We've gone for rides in it several times.

It's really neat! Makes no noise - which is strange! But has good pickup, will cruise on the interstate at 75 or so without problems, and she gets 55 mpg!! She just loves it.

The inside is roomy - we sat in the back seat and had plenty of leg room (I have *very* long legs, and dh is over 6' tall). There is lots of room in the trunk. The "engine" is rather strange looking, and there are very readable instructions on its care and feeding that come with the car.

If they had a minivan sized one, I'd really consider getting one, but my baseball team won't fit, and they are getting to the ages I want to take them places - together! So, one of these won't be on my shopping list for a while!

Cheerio!

Thanks Elizabeth! Sounds great! Just the kind of info I was looking for

Petunia - hybrids are the new vehicles that run on a combination of gas and electricity - they are more fuel efficient, but the first models were pretty small and lacked umph... sounds like Toyota is addressing these problems with their Prius. Honda has a couple hybrid models too.

Have a great day!

Hi MauraM
Thanks for the informatio. Wow, gas and electricity. What a combination. That sounds good for fuel economy the way gas prices are nowadays. It is good they are making them roomier!]
Thanks again,
Petunia

We have looked at the Honda's as my dh commutes a long distance to work. He really liked test driving the small honda & now they have the civic. We have 2 other Hondas (regular) & so reliable. Everything we have read said the savings at the gas pump don't make up the price difference in the purchase. (You get a nice one time tax break when you buy one.) If I could do it just to help the environment, I really think I would. But we just can't afford that at this time. I'm interested to hear what other actual owners would say too. So....We're waiting....
