Do you use these in your homes? Do you make your own? Do you use the same one every year? Do you buy the ones that come filled with things or do you fill your calendar with things - if so, what?
We call our a "Count Down to Christmas" calendar. I bought it last year at GoodWill. It's velvety soft and has 3 snowmen on the top of it with all of the days printed on tiny stockings that can be filled.
I filled the stockings tonight (yep, late again). I printed out strips of paper on which I wrote things for my kids. Some stockings have 2 strips - one for each kid and some have only 1 strip for which the will share whatever is on it.
I used some ideas that I read on here (THANK YOU!!) like "taking a drive to see Christmas lights while wearing our pjs, drinking hot choc and eating cookies! LOVE THAT!! and "Decorate a Christmas sweatshirt - this is for my dd. My son will extra time on his phone that night since he won't want any part of decorating a sweatshirt. lol!
I also added some slips of encouraging sayings, 2 Christmas poems, Christmas jokes, slips for donating food to our local CRO and picking a name for Toys for Tots.
Other slips include movie theater with snacks - I picked up the tickets on sale already.
out for ice cream, a pack of gum and a drink, making a Christmas cd, baking cookies, rent a movie and eat popcorn, rent a video game, $5.00 for each to buy the other one a gift, gift card (won from McDs!) to use for Itunes.
I think that they will have a great time with it.
How do you use your calendar?
