Humble I volunteer every year

Especially during the holidays, I volunteer at a place called the Shade Tree. Its a homeless/abused womens shelter. I also make chicken & vegetable cream soup and warm biscuits. Enough to feed 150 people on the 3rd week of Dec. instead of swapping gifts store bought gifts. So little can go along way when you put your heart into it.

FOr Thanksgiving Maddie and I volunteered at the Homeless Shelter in our area. We went and helped prep the foods that were to be cooked for dinner.
WE got everything prepped in a hour.

Today we helped stuff stockings for the women in the homeless shelter. The kids are taken care of by Toys For Tots and the local churches, we thought it would be nice to give something to the women.
We stuffed 20 stockings with toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo and conditioner, a comb, nail polish, lipbalm, hand cream,, body wash and body lotions.

A guy that volunteers his time at the shelter teaching the women how to budget their money for meals was so excited, he had us pass out our stockings today. Oh, each woman also got a fleece blanket and a pair of fuzzy socks.

One woman thanked us numerous times, then started to cry saying she never gets gifts for Christmas.

Hi all,

This year our Rebekah Lodge collected items to send to the USS Stennis. We sent 2 boxes full of candies, books , movies, socks and other things to be shared among the navy crew. We hope they enjoy all that was sent. So far, we haven't heard back from them yet. We did this a couple years ago and recieved lots of thank you letters. We did it again last year and got the boxes back as the ship went into dry dock and we weren't aware of it. We also collected gloves, socks and hats for one of the homeless shelters.

I spend about 9-10 months during the year, knitting toys and dollies for the Christmas Cheer at a food bank. They are given out to the children, along with a pair of p.j.s
