What colors do you decorate in for Christmas?

Do you use the traditional colors of red & green or do you jazz it up a bit with your own color?

Since my home is decorated with a country theme, I decorate with mostly forest green and Dh isnt crazy about.

I was thinking that white, cranberry and country blue would look nice for a Winter look but I dont know if I could get into the spirit with those colors. HHHMMM......

What do you do?

Hi ajrsmom,
I think the color combination of white, cranberry and country blue sounds SO PRETTY!!!

I wish I HAD a color combination, I guess you could say our decorations are a hodge podge of stuff collected over the years.
If I had the money I would love to be able to decorate in a different theme and color scheme every year....that would be cool!! What I do have a lot of is Teddy bears and I use them for decorations at Christmas!

Our house is decorated in Americana, we've loved the look of it for years now! Two years ago we bought new decorations for our tree in red/white/blue, but most of the deco is more of a burgandy/navy/ivory.. . .more country type! This was our compromise! My dh is a huge lover of America and the flag, etc. and since I love the look of country and really like Americana too, it all worked out and everyone's happy!! So some of our deco is good for all year long too, not just Christmas! If you move stuff around and arrange it in a different way, no one will even notice, for the most part that some things are the same!

I love the idea of the red, white & blue theme!!

For years I have decorated in the hunter green/burgundy stuff.

I believe it's time for a change and the Americana sounds perfect!

Thanks for the idea!

I mostly have green white and silver tinsel and I choose whichever goes with my decor that year, no hard and fast set theme

We have a mix this year of red, green, white, some maroon and dark green, and a little blue and white splashed in there, too. All of these colors are on Christmas bulbs and ornaments. The overall colors are red, green and white.

I would still like to change everything to blue and white with snowmen but my kids aren't keen on that idea --looks like that's one I'll do once they are grown.

My large tree in my living room is done with an angel theme. It's done in mauves, pinks, burgundys, etc. It also has magnolias on it. The topper is an angel with a gown in the mauves and pinks to compliment it. This is very pretty in my living room because it is done using alot of mauve's and cherry antique furniture. I just love angels anyway.

To get us into the Christmas mood I have a smaller tree in my den that is done with no particular theme. It's done in reds and golds. I used poinsettas and baby's breath on it. It has a poinsetta tree topper that also has white pearls in it the center. So I used strings of white pearls on it.

White and silver for the tree with white lights. We do the outside in all white. Shrubs, icicle lights on roof area and we have a fairly long driveway that we outline in white lights. We are on the flight path to the Memphis Airport. One night we just might get a Northwestern airplane on our driveway. lol
With my luck, when my ship comes in, I will be at the airport!

I am a pretty traditional decorator---Red and green. In my living room though, burgundy does look better than red.
I still like colored lights on my tree and put white lights around the house (in windows, plants, etc).
Since I have a dog that can't leave outside lights and decorations alone, I keep it very simple outdoors. We have a large 3ft. wreath with a big red bow that is up on the garage. Everything else outside is what shows up from the inside.

I have never been a fan of trees that were done in one color, but this past summer we were in a shop that had Christmas trees displayed all year round. They had a "White" tree that was as pretty as any I have ever seen. The tree itself was natural looking with all white lights (the old style not LED). All of the decorations were clear glass, frosted glass, white or irredescent. It was beautiful.
