Oh, I have to perfect cake idea for you! I did it for my daughter's pool party last June! Make any kind of cake and tint the icing blue for the water. I got a little plastic hawaiin doll(from a party store-cheap) The dolls(boy and girl) had little hula skirts and leis on. I put them in the center of the cake and made a little island for them to be standing on(just a little green icing or finely crushed graham crackers to look like sand.) In front of the dolls, I made a little fire pit and stuck the candles in them(I used candles that looked like sparklers so it really looked like a fire.) For the fire pit, our local cake supply store had candies that look exactly like rocks(actually they're jelly beans). I made the round fire pit with the rocks and and put finely crushed graham crackers inside the pit. When I stuck the candles in and lit them, everyone loved it. It was pretty inexpensive and original. My daughter was turning 10 when I made it, now she's about to turn 11 in June and I'm going to have to come up with a cake for the theme of "The Messiest Party Ever!" Kind of like a Double Dare party-lots of hands on actifvities. Well, I hope the cake idea helps a little. I know I'm going a little long on this one.

Oh yeah, if you are able to do it outside, we just fired up the BBQ pit and had the kids roast marshmallows on skewers. They loved it.

Sorry, here I go again....another idea that really works it to give the kids a paper bag with a little popcorn(unpopped) in it. the kids roll up the bag(close it) and pop it in the microwave. This way the kids make their own popcorn and they love it. You can come up with different seasonings for them to sprinkle on it like getting ranch dip.

On oriental trading you can get beach balls by the dozen pretty cheap. I did that a couple of years ago. Just put them on the floor if you have to have the party inside. They sell beach bucket/pails also. You could use those for loot bags. Be careful to look at the size before you buy them because they sell large and small(about 3 inches tall.)

You can do the limbo inside. Use a broom, or get a piece of pvc pipe and wrap it with different colored fabric/ribbon.

I better stop now, huh. I could keep going and going and...well you know. he he

oh yes, I have a picture of that cake somewhere if you'd like to see I'll find it and post it.
