Daughter losing her hair

Hi I just wnated to post and see if anyone else has had a problem with there child losing there hair for no medical reason. My 7 yr old Daughter Started losing her hair about 6 weeks ago and its getting really thin. are family Dr sent her to a Dermatoligest and he says he thinks it is stress related but I just dont believe that she is not a stressed out child at least I dont think so He put her on Luxiq I have to put it on her head twice a day but its still coming out mostly when i comb it hubby says dont comb it and it will stop but i have to comb her hair i try and do it only once a day. When she was in school we always keep it in a ponytail on top of her head I really think that is why its coming out and even at night it was up. She does have new hair comeing in Thank goodness. I was just wondering if anyone elses child has every went through this.

I know you said it wasnt medical but before I got pregnant, I was losing my hair in bunches. It ended up that my iron levels were extrememly low even though I was taking a multi vitamin with iron. My endocrinologist put me on iron pills and that really seemed to help. So far, even after having my daughter, my hair isnt falling out again like before. Im hoping the problem is solved but I become so paranoid even at seeing the slightest few hairs.

Stress is a major factor with hair loss and it could be inherited as well from her family. I wore my hair back in barrettes and ponytail holders all of the time too. He told me that this could cause stress on the roots of my hair, causing some loss but it shouldnt be a reaccuring thing. He also told me to leave my hair down for a while to allow it to relax from the tension.

Im glad to hear that her hair is growing back. Losing your hair for now apparent reason can cause a great amt. of stress on top of everything.

I hope everything works out for her. Keep us up to date on this. I hope to hear that everything is ok real soon!

Give her an extra hug from me

Pinkie Winky Nutrition

Hi, I am new here and I just happened to see your post. To start off with, I am a nurse and the mother of two children. Your daughter sounds like she has some major nutritional problems. To make a long story short, my daughter used to be very ill. Even though I am a nurse, I seeked out complementary medicine to hlp my daughter. She was covered from head to toe in severe eczema. It took me one year to finally find a doctor that could help her. Please be careful with the drugs. I hate it when doctors don't seek out the cause of an illness. They would rather give a precription. Since I do not come here often, please e-mail me if you have any questions. [email protected]

did the doc do blood work on your daughter before sending her to the dermatologist?

Has she had any other "off" symptoms? (change in appitite, activity level, weight loss or gain, cold hands/feet etc...)

Just wondering how thorough a "look-see" was done ...

I'm hoping she's feeling better, too...
