I always bought jarred food until my dd got to be almost a year old because my dh and I worked opposite shifts and neither of us ate regular meals. I do have two recipes that I thought someone might be able to use, although when I found them I didn't need to buy formula anymore.

Pedialyte Substitute
1/2 tsp table salt
1/4 tsp salt substitute
1/ tsp baking soda
2 tbsp sugar
Mix everything with 1 liter boiling water. Give whole liter over a 24 hour period to avoid dehydration due to severe diarhea in child 6 months old and up.

Homemade Baby Formula
2-12 oz cans evaporated milk
32 oz water
2 tbsp Karo syrup
3 mL Poly Vi Sol vitamins
Mix thoroughly. Remember: You shouldn't switch your infants formula without consulting their doctor. Breast milk is preferred, then commercial brands, then homemade.
